Job Title: Interim Senior Associate General Counsel
Hourly Rate: $130/hour

About the Role
Our client, a leader in the financial services space, is seeking an Interim Senior Associate General Counsel to support its legal team during a critical period. This is a high-impact, fully remote opportunity for a skilled attorney with deep experience in financial services, banking, payments law, or M&A. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in regulatory and transactional work and comfortable working in a fast-paced, business-forward environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, revise, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements related to financial products and services (e.g., payments, accounts, prepaid cards, mobile services, and bill payment).
- Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to internal stakeholders on a wide range of corporate, regulatory, and commercial issues.
- Support compliance initiatives, including money transmission license maintenance, audit responses, and new license applications.
- Conduct legal and regulatory research and analysis for new products and services; prepare memoranda summarizing requirements and risks.
- Review and revise cardholder agreements, marketing materials, website terms, and other collateral to ensure compliance with federal and state consumer protection, data privacy, and disclosure laws.
- Provide guidance on issues related to data security, privacy regulations, money transmission, and payment systems.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 4+ years of relevant legal experience.
- Admitted to practice inany U.S. jurisdiction and in good standing.
- Prior in-house legal experience is strongly preferred.
- Background in financial services, banking, payments, or M&A.
- Experience with gift card law, franchise law, or complex joint ventures is a plus.
- Familiarity with payments regulations, financial regulatory frameworks, money transmission laws, data privacy/security (e.g., GLBA, CCPA, GDPR), and electronic payment systems.
- Strong business acumen and ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Self-starter who thrives in a remote setting and can manage shifting priorities with minimal oversight.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments in a fast-paced environment.
