Legal Assistant / Contract Administrator (Temporary with Potential for Permanent Hire)

Location: Glen Cove, NY (100% Onsite)
Schedule: Preferred 4 days/week (Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, 30-minute lunch)
Compensation: $30–$40/hour
Duration: Ongoing Temporary Assignment with Potential for Long-Term or Temp-to-Perm Conversion
Start Date: ASAP

About the Opportunity

An established engineering firm in Glen Cove, NY is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or Contract Administrator to support its in-house legal department. This is an immediate need and an excellent opportunity for a legal professional who enjoys contract administration, document management, and legal operations support.

The assignment is expected to last at least 1–2 months and could continue significantly longer, with the potential to become a permanent opportunity for the right candidate.

This role supports Corporate Counsel and the VP of Administration and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple priorities, and is comfortable working independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer customer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and legal documentation
  • Review, edit, amend, and proofread contracts and legal correspondence
  • Track contracts and legal documents through all stages of review and approval
  • Maintain status reports and monitor key deadlines
  • Coordinate document routing, approvals, and signature collection
  • Maintain electronic and physical legal filing systems
  • Organize project files and supporting documentation
  • Manage legal communications with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support calendar management, scheduling, and meeting coordination
  • Take and distribute meeting minutes
  • Provide general administrative support to the legal department as needed

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of legal administrative, contract administration, paralegal, or related experience
  • Experience supporting legal departments, in-house counsel, or law firms
  • Strong understanding of contracts and legal documentation
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Important Location Requirement

This position is 100% onsite in Glen Cove, NY.

The client places significant emphasis on commute time and strongly prefers candidates whose daily commute is approximately 30 minutes or less. Candidates residing in Nassau County, Northeast Queens, and portions of Western Suffolk County are likely to be the best geographic fit.
