Base Salary: Starting at $215,000 (flexible based on experience)
Overview
A leading, highly regarded law firm is seeking a Senior Litigation Associate to join its San Francisco office. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact, complex disputes spanning commercial litigation, regulatory enforcement, and public law matters across a national client base.
This position is ideal for an attorney coming from a top law firm, litigation boutique, or government practice who is looking for greater responsibility, direct client interaction, and meaningful courtroom exposure while working closely with experienced partners.
The Practice
The firm’s litigation practice handles a diverse range of matters, including:
- Commercial and corporate disputes (contracts, fiduciary duty, business torts)
- Partnership, shareholder, and governance litigation
- State and federal regulatory investigations and enforcement actions
- Administrative proceedings and challenges to agency action
- Appellate matters and pre-litigation counseling
Matters are often fast-paced and high-stakes, involving injunctive relief, parallel regulatory exposure, and significant business impact. Associates work on lean teams with high visibility and hands-on responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage cases and key litigation components with increasing independence
- Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, and substantive briefs
- Oversee discovery, including written discovery and motion practice
- Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and strategy sessions
- Collaborate closely with partners on litigation strategy and case development
- Conduct legal analysis across evolving statutory and regulatory frameworks
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and regulatory bodies
- Take ownership of workstreams and contribute to efficient case management
Qualifications
- 6+ years of litigation experience (state and/or federal court)
- Background at a leading law firm, litigation boutique, or government agency preferred
- Strong experience drafting dispositive motions and managing discovery
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and workstreams effectively
- Interest in both commercial litigation and regulatory/public law matters
- Active California Bar admission (or ability to obtain promptly)
- Judicial clerkship and/or government experience is a plus
