Commercial Litigation Attorney

On Call Counsel is seeking a Part-Time Commercial Litigation Attorney for a growing Brooklyn litigation firm.

Location: Primarily Remote (Hybrid in Brooklyn, NY welcomed but not required)
Compensation: $70/hour
Schedule: Approximately 10–20 hours per week
Duration: Expected 6+ month temporary assignment with potential for long-term or permanent opportunities

About the Opportunity

A growing Brooklyn litigation firm is seeking an experienced Part-Time Commercial Litigation Attorney to provide immediate support on a sophisticated commercial litigation docket. This position is ideal for an experienced attorney looking for flexible, meaningful legal work.

The firm welcomes applications from experienced litigators currently in private practice, solo practitioners, senior counsel, attorneys between positions, or semi-retired attorneys seeking part-time work. The ideal candidate will be dependable, highly independent, and able to consistently commit to approximately 10–20 hours per week as workload demands fluctuate.

There is potential for this position to transition into a permanent full-time opportunity for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Conduct complex legal research.
• Draft legal memoranda, motions, pleadings, and other litigation documents.
• Assist with discovery, document review, and case preparation.
• Support attorneys on complex commercial litigation matters.
• Work independently while collaborating remotely with the litigation team.

Qualifications

• Significant commercial litigation experience.
• New York Bar admission is strongly preferred due to the firm's New York State court practice and the need for familiarity with New York CPLR procedures.
• Strong legal writing and research skills.
• Experience drafting dispositive motions and managing discovery.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Reliable availability of approximately 10–20 hours per week.
• Reinsurance litigation experience is preferred but not required.
